BAM–Life in an Instagram

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a BAM (Brittany’s Awesome Mixer) post so I thought I would take this lazy sunday as an opportunity to let you know what’s been going on in my oh so extravagant life. [; (Aside from work and business of course)

1. Fall is definitely in the air which means lots of shopping for new falls clothes! My favorite!
These jeans are dare I say, perfect! Flaunt your assets, ladies! [;

2. Hanging out with friends who don’t care how utterly lame and random you are. [=

3. My messy hair. I’ve added a new step to my hair cocktail and instead of my usual Bumble and Bumble Styling cream in wet hair, Salt Spray when it’s damp, and Sumotech in the roots when it’s dry. I’ve been finishing it with a soft pomade to try to tame down the lion’s mane. It looks a lot softer than it did before, but still as messy and awesome<3

4. I realized I posted on my instagram the beginning stages of my pumpkin painting adventure and never posted the final product! Needless to say it did not come out as I had dreamed in my Martha Stuart head, but we can’t all be wonder women now can we? I’m pretty happy with the final product after Halloween I’m definitely going to buy funkins on clearance and paint them! I think the paint would stick better and I’d have it for years after that. Because believe me, It’s a tedious process and once you start you decide you DON’T want to do this every single year. I would honestly have to say my favorite is the charcoal gray (or grey? I never know) butternut squash and the spray painted gold little one! So cute!

FINALE! I thought I’d leave you with a special behind the scene sneak peek for my upcoming shoot with AMAZING vendors. I won’t go into details about it…but here’s a little snippet [=

B.A.M.//Wednesday Wedding Do — Facing Fears

This week in lieu of two separate blog posts for B.A.M. and Wednesday Wedding Do I am going to combine them in one because what I am posting blurs the line between the two. Two days ago I had the … Continue reading

Jason and Devonne — Carver Backyard Vow Renewal

Jason and Devonne were married when they were just teenagers. However, they didn’t get to have a “real” wedding since they were so young and Jason was in the military. Now they finally had that chance. They came up to Portland from Georgia, where they currently reside, in order to renew their vows, have a wedding, and share their love with their friends and family. When I was told I’d be photographing a vow renewal I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. I’d never shot one so I thought it would just be simple, no decorations really, and just a handful of people. As soon I as arrived I knew I was DEAD. WRONG. They had beautiful, but simple handmade details that were not over done as if they were for wedding, but just right for a vow renewal and their casual personalities. Devonne was in a gorgeous wedding dress, and they were surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones. The house/yard they renewed their vows on was not just any house, it was a beautiful house surrounded by woods, a big open back yard, chickens, and a river. Words cannot describe how beautiful their day was. It was everything I hope every couple’s vow renewal will be. Loving, simple, beautiful, and most importantly fun. Jason and Devonne were definitely not afraid of having fun. (They arrived to the ceremony in on a four-wheeler!)

I’m still working on slowly integrating stop motions into my shoots, but still trying to figure out how to get the right schedule down. Since I was there to take photographs I focused mainly on that, but I was able to snag a little bit of stop motion at the end of the reception so be sure to check out the quick, but none the less sweet video at the end of the post! [=

Thank you guys and your family so much for being so welcoming and friendly. You all truly made my job easy.

**Please change video settings to 480p if you are able to. I’m not sure how to change this setting permanently in YouTube without it choosing automatically for me. Anyone have any ideas?!**

B.A.M | Fashion, Food, Jasmine Star, and BFF’s

I missed my B.A.M last week, but in my defense I was having a very exciting one in Seattle with creativeLIVE!

So…here’s my B.A.M-b.o.t (Brittany’s Awesome Mixer-back on track) Okay, that’s kind of a stretch…

1. FFFFFFFFFF-Fashion.
Yes, this is my hopefully semi-regular segment influenced by Flight of the Conchords. Of course I’ll never be quite as cool as they are…or as fashionable.

This is what I’m wearing lately since spring is “supposedly” just around the corner. I love the bright color of my shorts and how they contrast against my favorite preppy cardigan. Not to mention the pop of color in my ring. I’m trying to get better at accessorizing and messy necklaces are totally my new jam.

Shorts: Target
Shirt: Forever 21
Cardigan: Gap
Jewelry: Forever 21
Clutch: Nine West

In Motion.

So if you know anything about what I have been doing as of lately then you know that stop motions are kind of my new dig. You would also know that I just returned home from a very exciting trip to Seattle. If not…I’ll briefly take you through the motions:
1. You see Jasmine Star coming back to Seattle and creativeLIVE
2. You do a happy dance and decides this time you will try to go
3. You make a video and put yourself out there
4. You keep all your fingers and toes crossed and almost die of anticipation
5. YOU GET PICKED!
6. You go to Seattle, meet incredible people, and have the experience of a lifetime.
7. You commemorates it via Stop Motion

In case you didn’t catch on the main character of our story “You” is me. Yes, shocking I know. Second Person is such a rebellious way to tell a story, but I also wanted it to be you. I want you to see that this IS possible and if you muster up the courage to put yourself out there that you too can have this amazing opportunity.

…I also just felt like being a rebel.

If you’re not completely convinced that going to creativeLIVE to attend a workshop is worth plastering your mug all over the internet I am prepared to sweeten the deal…yes, I am always one who has another trick up her sleeve. So here is my stop motion I have been promising everyone. It shows the inside view of what goes on during a weekend at creativeLIVE. There are scenes with the amazing friends I met, scenes of the amazing crew and how they work, laughter, love, and even some tears, but most importantly there is an experience and a fire under my belly to set things into motion. An experience and fire that I think everyone should strive to have and is definitely worth plastering your bright shiny and happy face all over the internet for the world to see.

Making Memories | The Primes, creativeLIVE, Seattle, and Jasmine Star

Some of you may be aware that I spent this past weekend at creativeLIVE in Seattle attending Jasmine Star’s “The Making and Marketing of an Editorial Wedding” course. It was my “unicorn” weekend (those who tuned in should hopefully understand that reference.) and I can’t wait to share with you guys the stop motion I made to commemorate the trip (TOMORROW I PROMISE!), but for now I wanted to share some photos I took of my fellow J*Primes (Michelle, Ashley B, John, Mark, and Ashley M) and the time we spent outside of the studio together. I couldn’t believe how well we all just clicked and even before meeting them felt like we had been best friends forever. I am so so happy that I was able to walk away from this weekend with not only a TON (let me reiterate that…TON.) of notes, but with equally as many new friends. If you missed this past weekend or you are having a hard time reading your sloppy notes (remember, Jasmine doesn’t talk fast, you listen/write slow) I highly recommend purchasing the course! So enjoy these photos for now and keep an eye out tomorrow morning for the stop motion!
