Hollinshead Barn Wedding: Krista and Martin

Krista and Martin are an amazingly loving and sweet couple. Their friends and family mean everything to them and because of this they decided to have a very intimate ceremony complete with a touching ring warming and then celebrate with a big, laid back party including all their favorite people.

Normally, you choose to have your wedding in Bend instead of Portland because you have a much less likely chance of it raining out there. However, that wasn’t the case for Krista and Martin. The day started with beautiful blue skies and right before dinner was served the clouds joined together and began to pour down rain on everyone. Most people huddled by the bar or headed inside the barn to eat before the dance party begun, but a select few of “Portland” kids remained outside. Toasting, laughing, and enjoying the nice summer rain and celebrating the love and commitment their friends had just made.

Plus, Krista and Martin mixed their two last names to create one new last name totally and completely unique to them. How cool is that?! That seriously shows the great compromise, love, and equality that will no doubt carry their marriage to amazing places<3

Lucy’s Garden Wedding: Myriah + Rob

I almost 98.6% of the time gravitate towards color images. It’s just what I generally prefer, but with Myriah and Rob there was something about the black and whites. They’re such a timeless, classic, and wonderful couple and their wedding was so emotion filled and beautiful that the black and whites just felt right.

They were married last week at Lucy’s Garden in Ridgefield, Washington and the day was absolutely gorgeous. The weather was perfect, the flowers were in bloom, Myriah had her DIY details scattered throughout the entire property it felt like an Easter Egg hunt each time you found a little something else and Myriah and Rob were as happy and awesome as can be. They are seriously one of the most amazing couples. Rob is so relaxed, go with he flow, and not afraid or ashamed of showing some emotion! Myriah has this huge personality that makes you feel warm as soon as you meet her. Not to mention I’m pretty sure she’s the only bride in the world who will trip backwards over her train, fall straight on her butt, and laugh and talk about how epic and amazing it was! Together they’re a power couple making each other laugh, dancing the night away, and even playing football. Plus, you gotta love a good ole’ fashion cake face smash!

Urban Studio Wedding: Kayla + David

Kayla likes wine, David likes coffee.
They both love italian food and the Timbers Army.
Kayla has the cutest giggles that come out even when you just look at her.
David has eyes that light up every time he sees Kayla.

They were married at Urban Studio this past weekend in a colorful party surrounded by their amazingly close family and friends and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. From the touching moment of Kayla’s father seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time (seriously, I teared up. Shout out to all my father/daughter moment softies out there!), to the amazingly cheerful bunting Kayla’s friend handmade, and the awesome dance moves that were busted out at the end of the night. This wedding was full of love. It peeked itself out of every crevice and corner, but mainly flowed out of Kayla and David themselves. When they look at each other they can’t help but smile and snuggle in and when they hug their friends and family it’s evident to the max. These two were made for each other and I’m so happy I was able to document that<3

WWD: Groom-tastic Cufflinks

This week’s Wednesday Wedding Do is once again going to the boys!

Earlier this week I was speaking with some fellow photographer ladies about how perhaps some wedding professionals focus TOO much on the bride and often leave the groom out of the picture. True, it is the bride who has often dreamed of her wedding day her whole life, but the truth is that it is an extension of both of you and YOUR love TOGETHER. Getting married is a two-way street and should reflect both of your personalities and dreams. Plus, we are living in a day and age where the stigma of weddings being all about the bride and what she wants is slowly being replaced by grooms who are just as invested and wanting to help out and plan the party of their dreams to celebrate the commitment to the girl of their dreams.

I’ve posted blog posts tailored toward the fantastic men in this world before: 1//2
but I decided that was not enough and to once again check in with my homeboys and let them know that I got their backs! [;

This week we’re going to talk about cufflinks. Brides have all kinds of ways to accessorize and be fabulous. From hair pieces to necklaces to earrings to their make up. Grooms don’t have as much leeway, but having awesome personalized cufflinks that are really tailored to your style and aesthetic is one way to jazz up any look.

So, I’ve searched etsy and found some great examples of fun cufflinks to match your geeky/hip/cool/fashionable/nerdy/relaxed/fun/quirky/outdoorsy/all around wonderful guy that you love<3

NW Portland Engagement: Krista and Martin

They’re the type of couple that cannot help but smile and laugh. The kind of couple that you try to take a serious photo and you have to get 5 minutes of giggles out of the way, take a deep breath, say, “okay…now for real.” It’s absolutely contagious.

Krista is sarcastic and witty. The first thing she told me when we started the session was, “just so you know, I do interpretive dance…” Martin is confident and poised. He looks at Krista like she is everything in the world and was definitely eager to kiss her anytime I asked.

They’re having a beautiful wedding this August, but completely stole my heart when they said they wanted to do engagement photos in the NW Industrial district. Seriously, I don’t think they could get anymore perfect and I’m so honored and excited to document their big day this summer<3

McMenamin’s Octagonal Barn Wedding: Krystle and Nate – Hello Kitty Galore

This week in lieu of a WWD, I’ll be posting a real wedding I shot a couple weeks ago that definitely stole my heart. I’m not a huge hello kitty fanatic, but I’ve had plenty of friends who are and understandably so. However, I don’t think anyone can compare with Krystle. She is obviously quite fond of Hello Kitty and I quickly caught on to the theme of her wedding. From the beautiful pink bridesmaids dresses, to the hello kitty veil, bags, thermos, and the bouquet (the icing on the cake) her wedding was 100% stylish with a fun touch of youthful whimsy! All topped off with an amazing desert bar by VooDoo Doughnuts and Bliss Cupcakes. Who could ask for a more perfect group of people to be around? However, the real show stopper was Krystle herself. She looked so drop dead beautiful I almost shed a tear as she walked down the aisle!
Okay, who am I kidding?! I most definitely did!

Wednesday Wedding Do: Groom Attire!

Groom does not have to equal doom and girls are not the only ones who can look totally stylish the day of the wedding! The Wednesday Wedding Do this week is going to the BOYS! Here’s some inspiration for groom attire bound to be a perfect match for your…well…perfect match, duh [;

1. For the Traditional Groom
Keeping it traditional with a tux? Channel your inner James Bond with this class look. Keep it modern by making sure it’s a slim fit.

2. For the Realistic Groom. Having a summer wedding and want to stay comfortable AND look fashionable? Ditch the jacket and keep it classy with just a vest and rolled up sleeves.

3. For the Adventurous Groom. Not afraid to stand out from the crowd? Mix your patterns and do something a little funky! In order to keep the look from going a hot mess stay within a single color.

4. For the Stylish Groom. Up to date on all the styles and want to give your bride a run for her money? (Don’t know if I’d recommend it, but this one’s for you!) Rock an off-color suit with a crisp white shirt and a funky bow tie! Make sure your suit is fitted and ideally go sockless. Darren Criss is OWNING this look for GQ!

5. For the Casual Groom. Just want a laid back, stress free, easy to do look? Take a note from this handsome fella and just go with a simple suit. Keep it modern by making sure it’s slim and in the same color scheme. Effortless chic!

If you love a man in a bow tie as much as I do, Fox & Brie has an AMAZING selection!

So there you have it! Picking your groom’s attire doesn’t have to be a huge headache! Just take a note from these amazingly gorgeous guys and remember three things: easy, stylish, comfortable. That’s all groom’s want!
But seriously, I think this was just TOO much handsomeness for one blog post. I’m going to go take a cold shower now!

Portland Laurelhurst Club Wedding: Jessica and Gabe

This past weekend Jessica and Gabe said “I Do!” with one of the most touching ceremonies I have ever had the pleasure of documenting.

Throughout the day it was extremely obvious that their friends really are the light of their lives and mean so much to them. From having a close friend officiate the ceremony and sing a beautiful song right before the kiss to having a bridal party greeting line to say hello, hug, and high-five each and every one of their guests…there really was just something “about” this wedding. It was so personal, loving, and inviting.

This is exactly how Jessica and Gabe are and as a couple you can just see the love oozing out of each one of their pores. Not only for one another, but for everyone around them. They compliment each other in every way imaginable. The running joke of the day was how much Jessica talks and how outgoing and enthusiastic she is about everything versus how quite and easy-going Gabe is. They really are the perfect match for each other and you couldn’t take one look at them without getting a huge smile on your face.

Jessica and Gabe thank you so much for allowing us to be present on your special day. It truly was beautiful. I cried, I laughed, I even almost let out a YAHOO! in the middle of the ceremony, but contained myself. [=
